Visit and Prize

These two original one act plays tell the stories of Ben Layman, a successful actor and his partner of ten years screen writer Dorian (Dolly) Westlake

In the first play, The Visit, Ben briefly without Dolly who leaves for Hollywood in the first act, receives a visit from his past in the person of his previously abandoned and now grown up daughter Susan. With this meeting Ben is forced to face up to certain truths and suffers from a lot of misapprehensions., his own and his daughter's

The second play, The Prize concentrates more on Dolly, his doubts and fears as he attends the 'Oscars' ceremony where he has been nominated for an award for best original screen play. Torn between worrying about the absent Ben and whether he has actually won the Oscar, Dolly finds it hard to decide which would be the better prize. With a glitzy set and a lot of luvvies and other entertainment; a singer, a stand up comedienne and Dolly's rather tipsy and out-spoken director The Prize is quite light and humorous.
