About the play Shoes (The Cinderella Story) was the first Christmas play I wrote specifically for Dolgellau Amateur Dramatic Society. I based it on the fairy story Cinderella and so it doesn't have 'Buttons' (I've only ever seen the story as a 'pantomime' once in my life, and I didn't understand his role) I tried to make the play as contemporary as I could whilst sticking to the strictures of 'traditional pantomime as I understood them; the ugly sisters are played by chaps, the principle boy is a girl, there are songs, fairies — good and bad — and transformation scenes.
